Applicants of the Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ondo State, joined others across the nation to sit for the 2021 JAMB examination.
Our reporter who monitored the exercise in Akure, the state capital noticed that the examination commenced around 7:30 am as scheduled by the board.
The centre at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) were filled with the applicants as early as 6:30 am, waiting for the officials of the examination board.

Meanwhile, there were complaints from some of the students writing the examination as some 60 applicants were turned back and prevented from writing taking part in the examination.
Some of the students explained that the JAMB officials at the venue of the examination said there was an error in their thumbprint and were prevented from writing the exams.
The applicants lamented over the development as some of them said they travelled down to Akure from Okitipupa, Ore, Igbokoda and others to write the UTME.
Tribune Online gathered that the applicants would write the examination in batches as the second batch is scheduled to hold around 11 am and 12 noon.
However, an official from the JAMB office assured the students that a new date will be forwarded to them, saying the error will be corrected.
Some students also complain about technical challenges encountered in the process of writing the exams but said the officials attended to them.
The situation was not different in some other centres which include the centre at the Public Service Institute at Ilara-Mokin as officials were seen ushering the students into the examination hall.

Security operatives were not left out, security personnel were seen in all the centres in the capital city of Akure, as early as 6 am to ensure the peaceful conduct of the examination.
As of the time of filling in this report, the first batch of the candidates was through with the UTME examination while the second batch of the applicants was preparing to sit for the examination.
